Plan by journey stage
Write down the situations your itinerary makes likely. An airport transfer, railway station and hotel stay require different language from visiting family or attending a work event.
- Arrival: mobile data, transport and your destination.
- Moving around: station names, directions and ride pickup points.
- Staying: reservation, passport and one hotel question.
- Eating: ordering, dietary requests and payment.

Practice the reply you expect
If you ask where the station is, prepare for “go straight”, “turn left” and “turn right”. If you order a drink, prepare for size, temperature and sugar questions. The second turn is where memorized travel phrases often break down.
